The nitty gritty details…

What to know before your visit

  • We ask that you please bring your own scissors or garden pruners with you to cut flowers, if you don’t have any no worries we have extras!

  • Be sure to bring your own clean bucket to transport your flowers home in, we charge $5.00 for one of our buckets.

  • Sunglasses, water bottles, hats, and sunscreen can make your visit a lot more enjoyable during the hot summer months.

  • We do not allow professional photography sessions during our U-Pick, if you would like to schedule a session please give us a call.

  • Please leave your furry friends at home.

How to properly cut flowers

  1. Hold the flower just below the blossom. Lightly grip so you do not crush the stem or accidentally break the flower.

  2. With clean sharp scissors cut one individual stem at a time. Be sure to cut long stems. Long stems allow you to fit more in your vessel and also is better for the plant. We use from your wrist to your elbow as a general guide to stem length.

  3. Gently remove the bottom 2/3 of the leaves. and place the stem in water right away.

Once you get home

  • To keep your flowers fresh start with a clean vase or jar at home. Use hot soapy water or even a touch of bleach to clean it after each use.

  • Give the stems a fresh cut at a 45-degree angle before putting them in the clean vase(s) at home. This maximizes the surface area for water uptake.

  • Be sure there are no leaves below the water line in the vase. This will cause the water to build bacteria quickly.

  • We recommend changing the water and giving the stems a fresh cut on the bottom every 2-3 days.

  • Keeping the flowers away from direct sunlight and in a cool area will also extend their vase life.
